BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Rosalinda “Rose” Perez, 77, of Brownsville, Texas went to be with our Lord on Monday, the 8th of July 2024.
Rose was born in Brownsville, Texas to Ninfa Cantu and Pedro Gutierrez. At the age of eighteen she met and married the love of her life, Encarnacion “Chon” Perez with whom she remained married for fifty-six years and together they raised seven children.
As a young couple, Rose and Chon traveled to Louisiana and Michigan as migrants working the different industries and fields. They settled to raise a family back in their hometown of Brownsville, Texas where she went to work for Ole’ Cards and Gifts at the old Amigoland Mall and was a store manager when the store shut its doors. From there she went on to manage Amigo Pawn Shop by the B&M International Bridge.
Rose enjoyed traveling to Louisiana and throughout Texas visiting with family. She loved going out to Kickapoo Casino and would visit every chance she would get. She loved cooking for her family and seeing her children gather around her home. She lived life to the fullest and was always the first to be out on the dance floor or singing along to her favorite songs.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Encarnacion “Chon” Perez; her parents, Pedro and Ninfa Gutierrez; her sister, Juanita “Janie” Muñoz; her brothers, Luis, Pedro and Jesus Gutierrez; her grandchildren, Vanessa Ann Gonzalez, and Jesus Mario Perez, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Asher and Lemuel Martinez.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Delia Longoria, Gloria Cervantes, Maria Ninfa Peterson, and Gracie Poitinger; her children, Jesus Mario Perez (Gloria Dina), Leticia Perez, Laura Perez, Genevie Martinez (Esau Martinez), Angelica Perez (Victor Rios), Juan Jose Perez (Cynthia), and Marco Antonio Perez; in addition to 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 7 great- great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.
