BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Samuel Jackson Snodgrass, affectionately known as Jack, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, the 31st of August 2023 in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was fifty-eight years of age.

Jack was born in Barbados on March 27, 1965, son of Samuel Franklin Snodgrass and Judy Burst Mitchell. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. A devout Catholic, Jack attended church with his wife Alicia at St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Mary, Mother of the Church. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee of numerous years for his father’s business, S&S Inc. in the Port of Brownsville, where he currently served as the manager of several boats. Some of his favorite pastimes included gardening, going to the beach, walking and shopping, listening to 80s and 90s music, painting his house, and vacationing with his family, such as going on cruises. In his youth, Jack also enjoyed fishing and shrimping.

Preceding Jack in death was his beloved granddaughter, Brooke Michelle.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Alicia B. Snodgrass; their children, Tara Michelle Snodgrass (Gilberto “Mickey” Capistran, Jr.) and Michael Shane Snodgrass (Maesha Cuevas); his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Poppy,"  Taylor, Ema, Olivia, Jacklyn, Blake, Maekael, and Maeanna; his parents, Samuel F. Snodgrass and Judy Mitchell; his sister, Christi Snodgrass (Taylor Topperwein); his half-brother, Scottie Mitchell;  in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 6th of September 2023 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 7th of September 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W. St Francis Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.
