Santiago Alvear Cisneros, 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 7th, 2017, at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility in Olmito, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Chago, as he was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville.
He was the Chief Water Operator at the PUB for 35 years. In his spare time, Chago enjoyed playing cards and cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Chago was
deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Chago was preceded in death by his parents: Juanita Alvear and Aurelio Cisneros; a daughter, Gabriela Maria Cisneros Rankin; and a sister, Hortencia "Tencha" C. Arellaño.
Chago is survived by his wife of 57 years, Oralia Flores Cisneros; his son, Santiago Cisneros Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Cristina Cisneros; and his grandson, Charles Anthony Rankin. He will also be missed by his sister, Martha (Dario) Peña; and two brothers: Aurelio (Mavis+) Cisneros Jr. and Mauro (Carmen) Cisneros and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10th, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 West St. Francis St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. The VFW Funeral Honor Guard will render military honors at the graveside.
Chago's nephews: Mauro Cisneros Jr., Eduardo Cisneros, Raul Arellaño, Paul Garza, George Garza, and Rodolfo Garza Jr. are honored to be serving as his pallbearers.
Santiago Cisneros Jr., Charles Rankin, Jose Revilla, Lauriano Rodriguez, Enrique Guerrero, and Javier Casares will serve as honorary pallbearers.
