Santos Lauriano Alarcon, Sr.

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Santos Lauriano Alarcon, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, businessman, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, the 3rd of July 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on October 27, 1939, Santos spent much of his life in Brownsville, Texas where he became known as a hardworking, dependable man of strong faith and unwavering character. He attended and graduated from Texas A&I University and dedicated his life to serving others through his church, education, business, and most of all family.

Santos was devoted to his college sweetheart, Hilda. Married in 1966, they built a beautiful life together for 60 years. Theirs was a partnership defined by loyalty and quiet consistency. It was a marriage filled with little inside jokes, shared conversations over coffee, and the joy of serving the Lord together.

For more than 35 years, Santos owned and operated a Stars Drive-In where he earned several distinctions of dedicated service. Throughout his tenure, his sons, family members, and even granddaughter were able to work alongside him. Prior to this, he also devoted ten years to teaching high school math, believing in the value of education and the importance of investing in the next generation.

With true devotion to his family and career, his faith ran just as deep. A devoted member of New Life Brownsville for 39 years, Santos faithfully served on the church board for 32 years. Many would call him a “Friend of God” greeting everyone with a warm handshake and a smile, praying for others, and worshiping God with all of his heart. The impact of his life on others will never truly be known. His example reached and shaped generations in every area of his life, whether he was serving hamburgers, teaching bible studies, or praying in hospitals.

Outside of work and church, Santos loved hunting and spending time with his family. He was rarely seen without his cowboy boots and neatly starched Wrangler jeans, a look that stemmed from his childhood growing up on a ranch in Hebbronville, Texas.

We grieve deeply, but we take comfort in knowing he is now with the Lord he served so faithfully.

Santos was preceded in death by his parents, Lauriano and Guadalupe Alarcon, and his brother, Erasmo Alarcon.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Hilda Alarcon; his sons, Santos Alarcon Jr. and Javier (Maura) Alarcon; his brother, Rodolfo "Rudy" Alarcon; his grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa, Jacob, Aaron, and Andrew; and his great-grandchildren, Eliana, Olivia, and Charlotte, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
