BROWNSVILLE, Texas. – Silvano Lozano Cantú entró en el descanso eterno el martes 27 de diciembre de 2022 en la comodidad de su residencia de Brownsville rodeado de su amada familia. Tenía ochenta y un años.

Silvano nació en Matamoros, México el 22 de enero de 1941, hijo de Arnulfo Lozano y Carolina Cantú Lozano. Silvano era un hombre sencillo, fuerte y trabajador. De orígenes humildes, su madre falleció cuando él tenía tres años, momento en el que su amada tía Lucinda Cantú se convirtió en la figura materna tanto para él como para su hermana. A lo largo de su vida, trabajó en numerosas ocupaciones. A la tierna edad de siete años, Silvano pastoreaba ganado, un trabajo en el que encontraba gran alegría. Mientras estaba en la universidad, Silvano ahorró fondos de su trabajo para pagar la matrícula escolar. Trabajaba de día y asistía a clases por la noche. Después de completar su licenciatura en contabilidad, Silvano trabajó como contador en Matamoros antes de emigrar a los Estados Unidos de América. Desde aproximadamente 1973 hasta 1993, trabajó junto a su familia como trabajador migrante en Michigan, Indiana y Minnesota. El horario de visita será el jueves 29 de diciembre de 2022, entre las doce del mediodía y las ocho de la noche, con un servicio de capilla que comenzará a las cuatro de la tarde del jueves dentro de la Capilla Oeste de Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A las seis de la tarde seguirá el rezo del Santo Rosario. Todos los servicios concluirán el jueves por la noche. Seguirá la cremación.

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Silvano Lozano Cantu entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 27th of December 2022 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence surrounded by his loving family. He was eighty-one years of age.

Silvano was born in Matamoros, Mexico on January 22, 1941, son of Arnulfo Lozano and Carolina Cantu Lozano. Silvano was a simple, strong, and hardworking man. From humble beginnings, his mother passed away when he was three years old at which time his beloved aunt Lucinda Cantu became the motherly figure to both he and his sister. Throughout his lifetime, he worked in numerous occupations. At the tender age of seven, Silvano herded cattle, a job he found great joy in. While in college, Silvano saved up funds from working to pay for his school tuition. He would work in the day, and attend classes at night. After completing his degree in accounting, Silvano worked as an accountant in Matamoros before immigrating to The United States of America. From approximately 1973 to 1993, he worked alongside his family as a migrant worker in Michigan, Indiana, and Minnesota. He later worked at Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas for approximately twenty years until his retirement from the zoo. A skilled carpenter, he never took time off and was still working in contracting and carpentry until he was eighty years old. Silvano instilled within his sons the importance of a good education and striving for the best. In his spare time, Silvano enjoyed exercising and would often go jogging and walking.

Preceding Silvano in death was his son, Alfonso Lopez; his parents, Arnulfo Lozano and Carolina Cantu Lozano; his aunt, Lucinda Cantu; his sister, Elvia Lozano Cantu; and his brother, Roberto Lozano Cantu.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Maria T. Lozano; his sons, Jose Lopez (Leticia) and Silvano Lozano, Jr. (Alice); his grandchildren Sandra Nelly Lopez, Alfonso Daniel Lopez, Josue Lopez, Jose Angel Lopez, Jr., Eduardo Lopez, Luis Alberto Lopez, Angel Lopez, Silvano Ivan Lozano, Liam Lozano, Diego Garcia, and Alex Garcia; his great-grandchildren Eduardo Lopez, Jr., Arlett Lopez, Marlene Lopez, Jared Lopez, Gail Lopez, Kayley Lopez, Julian Lopez, Daniel Rose Lopez, Josue Alejandro Lopez, Emiliano Romeo Lopez, and Mateo Omar Lopez; and his brother, Heberto Lozano Cantu.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 29th of December 2022 between the hours of twelve noon and eight o'clock at night, with a chapel service to begin at four o'clock Thursday afternoon within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A recitation of the holy rosary will follow at six o’clock in the evening. All services will conclude Thursday night. Cremation will follow.
