Tomas` Vela Gonzalez

Tomas Gonzalez, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Tomas was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. Tomas was an auto mechanic his entire life. Tomas was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Tomas was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Tomas is his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Maria del Refugio "Cookie" Gonzalez; his children: Esmeralda (Carlos) Navarro, Ana (Juan) Castro, Carlos Tomas (Gloria "Tootsie") Gonzalez, Evelia (Juan) Salazar, Gisela "Gigi" (Tom) Rhodes, Nicole (Raul) Martinez, and Louis (Krystal) Gonzalez; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
