Velma Wardal

PORT ISABEL, TX. – Velma Mae Splittstoesser Wardal passed away at home Tuesday, July 27th, 2021. Born July 11, 1933, she had recently attained 88 years.

Velma was born in the small community of Claremont, Minnesota and became a teacher. Married to Richard Duane Wardal April 10, 1954, they celebrated their Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary before he passed away in January 2007. Velma and Richard owned and ran Sea Garden Park in Laguna Heights from 1978. Velma ran the Park on her own until last year, when she finally retired to a house she loved on North Shore Drive in Port Isabel.

Cremation arrangements are through Darling-Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville. The memorial service will be announced at a later date.
