BROWNSVILLE, TX. - William Kirkland “Kirk” Carrington, a resident of Brownsville, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the age of 56. Kirk was born December 25, 1963 in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama to Lt. Colonel (ret.) John D. Carrington and Madge Fort Carrington.  As the son of an Air Force officer that relocated frequently, Kirk was able to experience life in many areas including Tucson, Arizona, Washington D.C., Santiago, Chile, and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, before his father retired to Durant, Oklahoma during middle school.

Kirk graduated from Durant High School in 1981 and the University of Oklahoma 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.  Kirk was an outstanding athlete, playing basketball and baseball in high school, intramural sports in college, and developing a mean golf game.

After college, Kirk worked in the movie and television industry in California and most recently as a television production engineer in Texas.  His passions included writing screenplays, skiing, golfing, Oklahoma football, travel, and critiquing movies and television shows.

Kirk is survived by his parents, Lt. Colonel (ret.) John D Carrington and Madge Fort Carrington of Brownsville, Texas; brother John (Johanna) Carrington II of Carmichael, California; nephews, John (Lauren) Carrington III of Greenville, South Carolina, Thomas (fiancée Bea) Carrington of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Samuel Carrington of Carmichael, California.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Grace Frazier Carrington of Oxford, North Carolina and Marion and Jeanette Monroe Fort of Durant, Oklahoma.

Kirk was a compassionate son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all.  The family asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Kirk will be interred at the Carrington family plot and honored with a private family service later this year in Oxford, North Carolina.
