Yolanda Longoria Swanson

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Yolanda Longoria Swanson, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, the 8th of June 2025 in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 71.

Born on November 12, 1953, in McAllen, Texas, Yolanda was a vibrant spirit from the start. She was raised in Brownsville and graduated from Brownsville High School, where she was a standout athlete and two-time state qualifier in the 4x400 relay. Her competitive drive and strong spirit followed her throughout her life.

Yolanda dedicated part of her career to education, teaching English at Hanna High School and coaching junior high basketball. She also worked at the Brownsville Housing Authority, always passionate about helping others in her community.

She found great joy and peace on the waters of South Padre Island — fishing, feeding the seagulls, and quietly observing wildlife. Above all, she loved being a mom and grandma. Her children, and grandsons Kyle and Caleb Quinn, were a constant source of pride and joy.

Yolanda will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor and the way she lit up a room with her stories — often hilarious, always heartfelt — about her childhood and life experiences. She brought laughter and warmth wherever she went.

She is survived by her twin children, Kyle Swanson and Leslie Swanson Anaya; grandsons, Kyle and Caleb Quinn; her sisters, Elena Longoria Marin and Carmen Longoria De la Llata; as well as close friends and numerous extended family members who loved her dearly.

Yolanda’s warmth, wit, and generous heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 12th of June 2025 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
